Product Description
Product Description
The operation of an air/vacuum valve is similar to the air release valve except that the orifice diameter is considerably larger and will not open under pressure. An air/vacuum valve is normally open and is designed to vent large quantities of air through the orifice. As water enters the valve during filling of the system, the float will rise closing the orifice. Air/vacuum valves once closed WILL NOT REOPEN TO VENT AIR while the pipe-line is operating under pressure exceeding atmospheric pressure or if water is present.
Product Features
Pressure & Vacuum relief in a water piping system
High capacity Venting & Vacuum relief for piping system protection
Increase efficiency of water transport in a piping
Prevent overflowing
Easily cleaning the Inside of air/vacuum valve
Product Specifications
This MAV type products describes 1/2-in.(13-mm) through 30-in.(750-mm) for flanges/orifice of air/vacuum valves and The valves are designed for use in water systems with maximum working pressures of 300 psig (2,070 kPa [gauge]) and water temperatures ranging from above freezing to maximum of 125%(52). - AWWA C512/AWWA M51
Product Use
Air/Vacuum Valves, also called large orifice valves, are designed to exhaust large quantities of air automatically during pipeline filling and to admit large quantities of air automatically when the internal pressure in the pipeline drops below atmospheric pressure.
Efficient Air Management for Pipelines
This air vacuum valve adopts both large and small orifices to reliably release entrapped air, prevent vacuum formation, and optimize pipeline flow. Its versatile design supports diverse applications, including water supply systems, irrigation, and industrial pipelines, helping to maintain efficiency and prolong the life of system components.
Robust Materials and Reliable Construction
Manufactured from cast iron or ductile iron and treated with epoxy coating or paint, this valve resists corrosion and harsh environments. The float assembly is made from durable stainless steel or polypropylene, and the sealing is ensured with EPDM or NBR rubber, contributing to a long service life and consistent performance.
FAQ's of Air Vacuum Valve:
Q: How does the air vacuum valve operate in a pipeline system?
A: The valve automatically releases trapped air via a combination of large and small orifices as the pipeline fills and prevents vacuum conditions during draining, ensuring uninterrupted water flow and protection of the pipeline infrastructure.Q: What are the main benefits of using this air vacuum valve in water supply or irrigation applications?
A: It helps maintain pipeline efficiency by removing air pockets and preventing vacuum buildup, which reduces the risk of water hammer, pipe damage, and flow restrictions. Its automatic operation, durable materials, and corrosion resistance provide long-term reliability.Q: When should this valve be installed in a pipeline system?
A: Install the air vacuum valve at critical high points, pump discharges, and locations prone to air accumulation or vacuum conditions, ideally during the pipeline commissioning or upgrade phase for optimal system performance.Q: Where can the air vacuum valve be used?
A: It is suitable for water supply networks, irrigation systems, industrial pipelines, and any application requiring air release and vacuum protection in pressurized pipelines. The valve meets IS:14845, AWWA C512, or equivalent standards, ensuring broad compatibility.Q: What is the recommended process for maintaining this valve?
A: Routine inspection is simple; check for debris or blockages and ensure the float and sealing components move freely. Minimal maintenance is needed, and the flanged or threaded connections allow for straightforward removal if servicing is required.Q: What types of end connections and sizes are available for this valve?
A: The valve is supplied with flanged connections adaptable to IS, BS, ANSI, or DIN standards and is available in sizes ranging from 1 inch (25 mm) to 12 inches (300 mm) to fit various pipeline diameters.Tell us about your requirement
